Peter, I have to agree with you. Before I made the decision to go to law school, I was working as a secretary in a well-known investment bank. Most of the men I worked for treated the secys like dirt. When I revealed that I intended to go back to school for my J.D., the treatment I received from these guys took a 360 degree turn. Suddenly I was a worthwhile human being because I was going “to make something of myself.” Now that I have a law degree, people are far more respectful of me. It’s a shame, but true. And although I hate to admit this, my confidence skyrocketed when I crossed that stage on graduation day.
